| As
Leeds prepares to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of
the Second World War, John Battle, Labour MP for Leeds West, encouraged
local WWII veterans to apply for free tickets to participate in
what promises to be one of the highlights of the year.
The Horse Guard's Parade takes place on Sunday 10 July and will be a
"spectacular, reflective, and entertaining presentation" staged
in front of the Queen, and 10,000 veterans, family members and carers.
Anyone who served in the armed forces or who played an active part in
the Home Front during the Second World War is eligible to apply.
John Battle MP said: "I would encourage everyone who lived through
the Second World War to join in the 60th anniversary commemorations. We
should celebrate the end of the conflict and remember those who sacrificed
their lives to defeat fascism.
"I would like to see the veterans of Leeds well represented and
honored at this historic event."
