John Battle Says Don’t Miss WW2 AnniversaryAs Leeds prepares to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, John Battle, Labour MP for Leeds West, encouraged local WWII veterans to apply for free tickets to participate in what promises to be one of the highlights of the year.

The Horse Guard's Parade takes place on Sunday 10 July and will be a "spectacular, reflective, and entertaining presentation" staged in front of the Queen, and 10,000 veterans, family members and carers. Anyone who served in the armed forces or who played an active part in the Home Front during the Second World War is eligible to apply.

John Battle MP said: "I would encourage everyone who lived through the Second World War to join in the 60th anniversary commemorations. We should celebrate the end of the conflict and remember those who sacrificed their lives to defeat fascism.

"I would like to see the veterans of Leeds well represented and honored at this historic event."

Tickets are available now from the Veterans Agency free telephone advice line 0800 169 2277, between 8.15am and 5.15pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.15amand 4.30pm on Fridays; or from the website www.veteransagency.mod.uk Veterans are advised to apply early as demand is likely to be high. Tickets will be dispatched by the 15th of June.
