Responding
to news that St Ives Mount in Armley, West Leeds, has won a BBC Radio
Five Live competition to find Britain’s friendliest
street, John Battle MP said:
“Congratulations to residents of St
Ives Mount on winning this competition. In West Leeds and elsewhere,
we need to build up communities, street by street, where people know
one another and help each other out – and so this competition win
is definitely a step in the right direction.
Things like the production
of the recent Armley calendar, street gatherings, and other local events
help to build up a feeling of community – and I hope winning the
competition will mean we continue to see more of it in the future in
the area.”
