John Battle MP Lab, Leeds West re-opened the Burley Lodge Centre after
a substantial refurbishment.
The community centre has undergone major construction work over the last
few months to create a more open and friendly frontage and the conversion
of an attic and a basement into a meeting, activity, storage and workspace
facility.
Mr Battle said: “I am delighted to be re-opening the Burley Lodge
Centre after the fantastic improvements that have been made over the
last few months. The Centre is a vital resource for the community in
Burley and it will be great to have it back open – and able to
offer extra activities and better facilities.
“I also want to pay tribute to those who have been involved in
keeping the activities going while the refurbishment has been taking
place. The groups for young people and children have been shifted to
various different locations around the area – and almost all have
carried on despite the upheaval. Many people have worked extremely hard
to keep them going and they deserve our sincere thanks for their efforts.”
The Burley Lodge Centre provides a number of activities for the community,
including a volunteering programme, a community café, and a counselling
and advice service.
