Fears that Armley Post Office would have to close temporarily have been allayed after its current franchise holder agreed to keep it open until a new agent can be found.
United Co-op, who run the branch on Town Street, have now said that they will continue to provide services – a move which has been welcomed by John Battle, MP for Leeds West.
He said: “I’m very pleased to hear that the Co-op have agreed to keep on services at the Town Street branch until a new agent is in place. This is a well-used Post Office and there was a good deal of concern in the local community at the prospect of a temporary closure. Thankfully those fears have not been realised and services now will continue to be available as normal.”
