Speed measures to be improved at accident blackspot

New speed measures are to be introduced on Stanningley Road in Armley after a campaign by residents and the local MP

A spate of accidents on the road led to local residents bringing a petition to Leeds West MP John Battle to ask for an urgent review of safety on the road. Earlier this month Mr Battle met with a Senior Traffic Engineer from Leeds City Council and local resident Doreen Fryer to carry out an inspection of the site.

It is now been agreed that ‘Vehicle Activated’ signing will be introduced and that there will be improvements to existing signs. A number of other measures will also be introduced to help to slow down traffic.

Mr Battle said: “I am pleased to see the Council taking account of the serious dangers posed by this stretch of the Stanningley Road. The proposed changes should help to improve safety and I will now be pressing for them to be implemented as soon as possible.”
