John Battle MP for Leeds West has joined forces with Leeds Citizens Advice Bureau to campaign against the high costs of telephoning Government helplines from mobile phones.
Mr Battle said: "When government was made accessible by telephone in the 1990s we did not imagine that those who needed the most help would only have access to mobile telephones.
"The consequence is that today people are forking out huge sums of money simply to collect their benefits.
"We need to update our systems and ensure that the most vulnerable in society have the best access to the services and benefits."
