John
Battle attended a ceremony at the construction of Hollybush Primary
School, Bramley, where two children tightened the final bolt to
complete another stage of the building.
John Battle said, “It’s a superb new modern design –
and now that the steel frame has been locked into place by two youngsters
with their spanners, already you get a sense of the space and light
that the new school will provide. It’s going to be not only
a top quality school for the youngsters but a great community asset
for the neighbourhood for the next few generations.”
Two Hollybush pupils, Kieron and Shannon, are pictured tightened the
final bolt in the steel frame structure for their new school at a ceremony
on Friday 10 December.
The new building on Landseer Mount is due to open in September 2005.
It includes a childcare centre which will offer daily childcare from 8am
to 6pm, and a community room for parents and community groups to use.
Head Teacher Pete Bell said, “We’re really looking forward
to our new building opening – it really will offer our children
and staff the best environment for learning and teaching.”
