John Battle MP Congratulates West Leeds High School On New Technology Status

John congratulated West Leeds High School on becoming a specialist technology school this morning (26 January)

West Leeds High is one of 200 schools across the country to have gained specialist status, and with it extra resources.

John said, “I do congratulate Head Teacher Maggie Brown and all the staff, governors and pupils of West Leeds High School on this recognition of their achievements. Not only is technology fascinating, it’s vital for our economy as well, and this means more opportunities for our youngsters in West Leeds to get good skills and qualifications that open doors to long-lasting and interesting jobs.

“Specialist schools are committed to raising standards of teaching and learning across the curriculum – in every subject and in every aspect of education. So this is also recognition of West Leeds High School’s wider success, and it comes as no surprise.

“West Leeds High School have good links with the community and with partner schools, and will share the benefits of their new specialist status more widely.

It’s excellent news for West Leeds.”
