Opening of Swallow Hill Community College

John Battle and Rosie Winterton with Principal Bernard KnowlesStaff and students have moved in to the first twenty-first century school in West Leeds. It is the fusion of West Leeds High and Wortley High, and blends together a new bright teaching team.

Meeting pupils on the first day, John Battle says” this place really has the wow factor! The youngsters were amazed with the space and light, the facilities for sport, dance and drama and the state of the art technology. It’s brilliantly wired up and try relaxing outside in the sun on the central piazza.”

“Even before the new school opened the results of Wortley High and West Leeds show a tremendous step forward. Our new school will add a real boost; what’s more it will be available as a fantastic resource within our community.”
