John Battle MP welcomes Jobs In West Leeds

John Battle, Labour MP for Leeds West, welcomed today’s jobs figures.

“115 people left the dole queue in June in my constituency,” said Mr Battle. “It’s been a good month for us and I am absolutely delighted, especially because that’s now 1,000 fewer people unemployed in Leeds West than when this Government came to power in 1997.”

“Unemployment fell again this month in Leeds as a whole, by 199” added Mr Battle.

Claimant count unemployment was 2.9% for Leeds in June, and 5.7% in Leeds West, double the average for the city.
