| MP John Battle has opened a new multi-million pound health centre, transforming the provision of healthcare in west Leeds. The Wortley Beck Health Centre, situated on the Ring Road, is home to two GP Practices, as well as primary care mental health, district nursing and children’s services.
Mr Battle said, “This new building provides high-quality local healthcare in a modern environment for all the people of Wortley and the neighbouring areas.”
Mr Battle met with the chairman of the Primary Care Trust, Martin Drury and the Chief Executive of Leeds PCT, Christine Outram on the day of the opening.
Ms Outram said, “This new centre will help transform healthcare facilities for local people as well as providing staff with 21st century surroundings to work in.”
The £6.7m centre is part of the Local Improvement Finance Trust (Lift) programme, a partnership between Leeds City Council. Leeds PCT and Community Ventures Leeds Ltd and is one of seven across the city.
Other Lift healthcare centres in west Leeds include the Armley Moor Health Centre and MP John Battle is currently campaigning to ensure that Kirkstall will also be home to one of these cutting edge facilities.
