Overseas Aid

John Battle: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development by how much the monetary value of the Government’s official development assistance has fallen as a result of the decline in the value of sterling in the last 12 months; what assessment he has made of the effect of this decline on the Government’s commitment towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals; and if he will make a statement. [269084]

Mr. Douglas Alexander: It is not the policy of the Government to comment on the value of sterling.

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer confirmed in the Budget that the UK remains on track to meet the target of raising development aid to 0.7 per cent. of national income by 2013.
