John Battle, Labour MP for Leeds West, took
up the road safety problems on Henconner Lane, Greenhill, Leeds 13.
A constituent contacted me after a five year-old boy was injured
by a car on this road, said Mr Battle. I know that Greenhill
Primary School have tried everything they can think of to recruit a new
crossing guard after their lollipop lady retired, but they havent
been able to. So its an urgent problem to tackle before another
child is hurt, and I took it up with Leeds City Councils Highways
Department.
Im glad to say that they are going to build a road-narrowing
point to slow down traffic and make it easier to cross. They will then
run a study to decide what further measures are needed longer term. |
